Isabelle and the Backyard Fairy’s

Welcome to the Enchanted World of our Backyard Fairies
Legend has it that a Fairy (Faerie) is a Mythical Being with Magical Powers.
They appear in Human Form, and can have a penchant for mischief, and trickery.
The Fairy is a Folktale found in many European Cultures.

(The photos you see here were taken in the morning hours when the sun was just coming up, and the humidity gave everything a lovely glow. I don’t retouch my photos. I prefer to capture everything naturally.)

A Fairy Door At The Base of Our Tree
The Fairy Village
In Folklore, Fairies are Connected to Nature
I wanted to create a Fairy Village for Isabelle to enjoy every time we entered our big backyard. Isabelle loves being outside. She loves to explore, gather rocks, splash in our backyard fountains, and run around.

Easter With The Fairies

The Golden Egg is a nostalgic shout-out to my youth in Georgia, in the 60’s.
At every Easter Egg Hunt that I was invited to, the grand prize was to find The Golden Egg. It was the ultimate of all prizes. I never did. So, when I saw this Golden Egg while I was shopping I bought it for Isabelle. I may not have found the Golden Egg, but I made sure that she did! 🙂

Isabelle’s Fairy Bread
Isabelle and I are big fans of the Disney T.V. show BLUEY. It is an Australian cartoon.
In one of the episode’s, the mischievous fairy’s have taken over the Heeler household. That episode, is the entire inspiration for our Fairy Garden.

The Toads and the Fairies Coexist Nicely
(Not your typical Toad House, but I wanted to use what we have. The old broken pot propped up against the broken column is just perfect for any Toad to live.)

Creating The Fairy Village
(Mini Shovels, Rakes, Sweat Rags, Garden Gloves, a Foam Cushion to either sit upon/kneel upon, an outside Visor, and Lots of WATER!)
You first need somewhere to put it that is ideal for the theme. I picture a Fairy Village being a bit cool with lots of shade. Lots of green and very simple flowers, but a very lush green. I also want it to be accessible to Isabelle. She is a toddler, after all. I want her to be able to touch the Fairies and the lovely Fairy Houses. And even pick some of the blooms occasionally.
This Project Took About 2-3 Days
I did my shopping in advance of starting this project. I made sure I had all the equipment I needed, and I knew the kinds of plants that I wanted to add here. It was just a matter of finding them. Also, to me the worst part is clearing the area of weeds, unwanted overgrowth, etc. Once you get the area cleared, then it’s just fun to put together.
Lantana Passion Fruit, are the Orange Flowering Plants you See Above Left
I also found some very simple green plants with cute little white blooms. Very simple!
I can’t remember the name of the plants though.

Creating Easter Baskets
This is always the fun part of every Easter for me!
The shopping, the planning, the creating….
The Yellow Basket you see above right, was actually left at our family beach condo years ago when I was managing it, by some renters.
I kept it because it was cute, and now I’m passing it onto Isabelle.

Fairy Bread
—————————————————————
Bingo’s Fairy Bread
This is based on the cookbook that we purchased called:
Bluey and Bingo’s Fancy Restaurant Cookbook
Yummy Recipes, For Real Life.
I did not follow this recipe exactly, I veered off and into what I knew would work for our tastes.
The cookbook recipe just called for a slice of bread, some butter, with sprinkles on top.
I agree with most of that, but I wanted to add some sugar, and to toast the bread in the oven.
—————————————————————————————
Here Is My Recipe:
You will need a baking sheet lined with Parchment Paper
Turn the Oven on 300F
You Need Some Really Good Artisan Loaf Bread…
..Spread with Butter, and then Sprinkled with Sugar
Now, It’s Time To Add Some Colorful Sprinkles
Just Place in the 300F Oven for About 5 Minutes, Then Turn it on Broil to Brown
It Smelled EXACTLY like Sugar Cookies, and even TASTED like Sugar Cookies!

Isabelle Creating Flowers
I try to keep our outside activities ‘Garden Related.’
Here Isabelle is creating floral bouquets out of plastic. Inspiring imagination and creativity.
I even had Isabelle to create a bouquet for her mother for Mother’s Day.

I hope to add more great ideas and projects in the future here.
It’s never too early to inspire!
